Committed to Quality
Oliver Cello Atelier is located right outside Knoxville, TN, on beautiful Melton Hill Lake in Lenoir City, TN. It’s owned by luthier, wholesale distributor, and cellist Daniel Oliver. Daniel graduated from ORHS and decided to continue his education at UTK before obtaining his master’s degree in music at one of the top music conservatories in Canada, the Royal Conservatory of Music. During his time there, Daniel played cello in the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. His musical gift can be heard in some big blockbuster movies. Daniel moved back to the United States to study violin setup and restoration with some of the best in Atlanta and Chicago before moving back to TN and opening his shop. Once home, Daniel settled down with his beautiful wife, Nicole. She is responsible for all the marketing and brand development of the company. They are the proud parents of Mason, Emma, and Benny, as well as two pets, Brutey and Kitty Kitty Meow Meow Purrr.
Nicole graduated magna cum laude from UTK and had a successful career in brand development, marketing, and social media management in the cheerleading industry. She prides herself on being able to figure out a company’s brand voice, and then using it to build a strong social media presence. She has utilized those skills as the Chief Marketing and Social Media Officer at Oliver Cello Atelier, as well as the owner and sole social media manager at Socially Managed.
Daniel is a highly sought luthier that makes some of the most beautiful looking and sounding violins, violas, and cellos in the US. He specializes in tonal adjustments, instrument set-up, restoration, full-scale maintenance, repair, commission builds and instrument sales.
Together, Daniel and Nicole make an unbeatable team.

Tonal Adjustments
Tonal adjustment give the musician some one-on-one time with Daniel to get your instrument sounding as perfect as possible for how you play.

Set-Up
A set-up is the final adjustments made to an instrument before it’s ready to play. A proper set-up is essential. The tone of the instrument is dependent on it.

Restoration
I restore instruments while preserving the maker's original instrument as much as possible. I have a great respect for the age and character of an old instrument. So, I do everything to preserve the original integrity of the instrument.

Repair
When a modern instrument becomes damaged, I do what I can to save original pieces…just like with restoration...but sometimes new wood or parts must be used/made. The goal is conservation always, but to also make the instrument reliable and playable.

Maintenance
These are things that have to be done no matter how well you care for your instrument. Maintenance includes things like new bridges, the gluing of seams, or grooved finger boards.

Instrument Making
With exquisite attention to detail, using the finest woods, and creating the perfect varnishes, Daniel Oliver is committed to the highest standard of artistry in instrument making. He prides himself on his uncanny ability to transform raw materials into the finest stringed instruments. His cellos are highly sought after for their beauty and tone.

Daniel Oliver
Owner and Luthier
Daniel’s the reason there’s a company. He is the brains, talent, and drive behind it all. His work ethic and passion is unprecedented. He started playing cello at 3, thanks to his Grandma, and never looked back.
When he isn’t in the shop making his next masterpiece, you can bet he is with his wife, Nicole. They are best friends, who are their happiest together…spending time at the lake, fishing or relaxing by the ocean.

Nicole Oliver
Chief Marketing and Social Media Officer
After a thriving career in the cheer industry, Nicole decided to spend some time doing what she loves most…being a wife and Momma. However, it didn’t take long for everyone around to see how much her skills were needed. Nicole built a successful career for herself by being the one willing to take risks and push boundaries, especially on social media. If she isn’t making content creation or reviewing analytics, she’s probably looking up what adventure her and Daniel can go on next. They love to travel, go to concerts and festivals and have seen everything from Reba to Kevin Gates.

Emma Cagley
Marketing Intern
Emma aka Toot, is the baby girl in the fam, and her Momma’s Mini-Me. She’s a senior in high school graduating ahead of her class this December. She plans to follow in her Momma’s footsteps pursuing a BSBA in Marketing from UTC. Since she already has a waitress job and busy social schedule, she’s just getting her feet wet helping her parents with content creation and posts right now. But you can bet in a couple years, she’s gonna be a force to be reckoned with in the marketing world.
